There is nothing like voice-enabling mobile apps for a true hands-free-mobile experience. No wonder consumer demand for voice-enabled mobile apps is on the rise. With its successful NDEV Mobile developer program, Nuance (News - Alert) has capitalized on this by enabling thousands of developers worldwide to introduce exciting new voice capabilities to millions of consumers in different markets.
In an effort to further expand the scope of this highly successful developer program, Nuance has added 11 other languages including, Arabic, Hungarian, Finnish, Czech, Romanian, Turkish, Greek, Malay, Slovak, Indonesian and Vietnamese, for voice recognition and text-to-speech.
This additional language support will be available across the Middle East, Europe and Asia, the company said in a news statement.
According to company website, nearly 12,000 developers currently participate in NDEV Mobile developer program, supporting 34 languages. NDEV Mobile brings the power of Nuance's Dragon speech platform to mobile developers worldwide via the Dragon Mobile SDK, offering broad language coverage and high-quality support for top mobile app developers supporting the iOS, Android (News - Alert), and Windows Phone 7 platforms.
Top brands in lifestyle, food, retail, finance, gaming, message dictation, social and Web browsing applications have leveraged the power of Dragon, including Kraft iFood Assistant, Coupons.com's Grocery iQ, Price Check by Amazon, Ask for iPhone (News - Alert), Merriam-Webster, Dictionary.com, E*TRADE, SayHi Translate, OnStar RemoteLink, Bon'App, SnapGuide, Dolphin Sonar, Grainger, Sonico iTranslate and many others.
NDEV program features three services tiers - Silver, Gold and Emerald. This structure is intended to give developers freedom to decide how they want to leverage Dragon in their applications, delivering choice in capabilities, platforms, customization, and support.
“NDEV Mobile's success rests in its ability to give app developers large and small instant access to Nuance's advanced Dragon cloud-based voice SDK. Nuance's Dragon Dictation and Dragon Search apps have already experienced incredible success across emerging regions, demonstrating clear demand from consumers all over the world for the powerful voice capabilities - and now we're enabling the rich mobile ecosystem of developers globally to deliver that same experience,” executive vice president and general manager of Nuance Mobile Michael Thompson (News - Alert) explained in a statement.
Earlier this month, Nuance introduced Dragon Dictate for Mac 3. This newly released version of Dictate includes a range of features such as new Smart Format Rules and new correction capabilities for a personalized experience. Dragon Dictate for Mac 3 also includes wideband Bluetooth support and the ability to transcribe recorded audio files from a single speaker.
