HTC Phone Calls Attention to Importance of Call Quality, Voice Management

Better data speed or better call quality? No matter how many times you ask yourself the question of which you prefer – fast data speed or great call quality – you might never find yourself with a definitive answer.

But one thing has come across loud and clear recently: HTC (News - Alert) Titan 4G consumers are certainly not happy with the phone’s call quality. When the phone was released, the HTC quickly shot up to the top of the fall lineup of handset running Windows Phone (News - Alert) 7.5 Mango. It is being touted for its 16GB of storage, SuperLCD display, and 800 by 480 resolution. However, the handset’s glowing reviews are stifled by the fact that many feel the phone is plagued with voice call quality issues.

From the sound being muddled to weak connections to unintelligible call quality, consumers are coming forth with complaints. Apparently, HTC is looking into this call quality issue and this is not a new problem for the company.

Recently, a blog post asked readers to rank whether call quality or data speed is more important to them. At the time of the poll, out of the 2,510 surveyed, 55 percent preferred call quality and 44.82 percent preferred data speed.

“Clearly the migration to VoIP, SIP, and UC technologies is progressing, and is predicted to continue in 2012,” Tracey Whitney, director of marketing for Tone Software, told TMCnet. “But as businesses move forward with these investments, they are keeping a close eye on the expected returns in user productivity, improved business processes, and lower overall operational costs.  The catch: when VoIP call quality is poor, and the voice network is plagued with performance and availability issues, the business cannot realize the expected returns from their converged communications investments. Poor quality drags down user adoption, impedes user productivity, slows business processes, and increases support costs as IT teams struggle to deal with user complaints and the underlying network issues.”
